Tolak Angin is a popular cold medicine that is made from natural ingredients like honey, ginger, mint, clove, and fennel fruit, to overcome the symptoms of colds. It is a standardized herbal medicine produced in the factory with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standard, and began to be prescribed first time in 1930 and produced in a factory scale in 1951.

In late 1990s, President Director of PT. Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat then tried to innovate with the liquid form of the medicine and packed in single dosage sachet. Tolak Angin could be considered as entering the blue ocean market because there is no similar product before the issuance of this liquid Tolak Angin product.
